What is Tom’s Secret Formula?
Tom’s Secret Formula is our flagship line of green lubricants. It is an environmentally responsible product line of Camie-Campbell, Inc. Camie-Campbell is a manufacturing company that has been in business for more than 50 years. We specialize in producing a line of industrial and commercial adhesives, lubricants, maintenance chemicals and mold releases: called Camie-Campbell. Tom’s Secret Formula, a line of natural, biodegradable lubricants is one of the best on the market today. In addition to Tom’s Secret Formula, we have a product line called Shelby that was introduced in 2001 to comply with the 2002 California VOC regulations.

What is Tom’s Secret Formula made with?
All of Tom’s Secret Formula Earth Friendly lubricants are made with 100% USA-grown, optimized natural vegetable oils and selective additives.

How does its performance compare with other petroleum-based products?
All of our products perform just as well, if not better than their competitors. In fact, Tom’s is the best line of lubricants on the market. Our line of products lasts longer and performs more effectively than anything else out there.

Are Tom’s Secret Formula products competitively priced?
Yes. We strive to offer the highest quality lubricants at the most affordable price for consumers. We know that embracing the green movement is important to our customers and saving the environment shouldn’t require sacrifice. Our prices are competitive with all other brand name products on the market today.

Why did you decide to start with these three lubricants?
We saw an opportunity in these specific industries for a more environmentally conscious product. After 18 months of testing, we developed the product line you see here. And we are proud to say that not only do these products completely fulfill requirements to be considered a green product, they also perform better than the competition, both petroleum-based and green. In 2008, at the National Hardware Show, we debuted the Tom’s Secret Formula earth-friendly product line.

Are your products VOC compliant?
The product complies with the current high standards of the California VOC rules, which have a maximum VOC limit of 50%. (We are at 40% in B-404, which is the propellant.) The photochemical reactivity of the propellant is low in comparison to most VOC materials such as petroleum solvents.

Are your products bio based?
The active portion of our product is 97% bio based. The USDA has a requirement of 68% bio based content to be considered bio based.

Are there other green lubricants available?
We have found a handful of similar products, but they are not all biodegradable as they claim to be. Tom’s Secret Formula is made from select vegetable oils, which are renewable resources. Our products are alternatives to petroleum-based lubricants and are solvent free.

What are some of the features of your biodegradable line?
Our line includes three lubricants: B-404 All-Purpose Lubricant, Garage Door Lubricant and Truckers’ Lubricant. They are all formulated with 100% optimized USA-grown vegetable oils and selected additives. Our formula allows them to cling to surfaces longer and not evaporate as quickly as its counterparts.
Unlike typical petroleum products, Tom’s Secret Formula lubricants are environmentally friendly, non-toxic and provide no danger of polluting water, soil or work environments. Although many manufacturers may soon begin using more environmentally responsible solvents in their products, Tom’s Secret Formula does not contain any solvent.

Are there any features in regard to the design of the can?
All of our steel cans were designed specially with 360-degree spray capabilities so that you can emit a pressurized spray even upside-down.

Do you offer private label branding?
Camie-Campbell offers premium private label branding for all of its product lines, including Tom’s Secret Formula. As a private labeler, Camie will diligently address every aspect of research and development (including custom formulations), production, quality control, packaging and labeling to ensure complete and total regulatory compliance. The expert private label team does not stop there. Camie has assembled a proven group of designers to handle developing and designing the actual labels.

After more than 50 years in the industry, why did Camie decide to start green/environmentally-friendly lines?
We’ve created these lines because we believe in preserving the environment. We wanted to create an earth-friendly alternative to our other brands and we were the first in our industry to do so. In fact, our Tom’s line outperforms all petroleum-based lubricants in nearly every aspect.
